Joe completed his apprenticeship with the ESB, as a maintenance fitter in 1985, and having spent 18 months in sales and 18 months in Bearing & Agri spares retail, he founded the business in 1988, at the age of 23. Having started with just one employee, he has experienced virtually every task in the company over the past 28 years. Joe’s principle areas of responsibility include Supplier development, Stock control, Systems, and Developing new products. Using his engineering background, and vast knowledge of our supplier’s capabilities from around the world, Joe works closely with many of our major OEM customers to provide the optimal solution for their component sourcing. Outside of his busy travel schedule, Joe is a keen rugby & GAA fan, especially watching his son play for Tullow & Myshall under age teams. Joe also likes to chill out on the family Farm at the weekends. (the golfing was more stressful)
Sheila joined the business in 1992, after her marriage to Joe. Having given up her career as a qualified nurse, she joined the business to work in the office, and support Joe while he travelled to generate sales and develop suppliers Sheila got involved in every aspect of the business, including picking & packing in the early days, and purchasing for the Irish company. However she quickly developed an understanding of the accounts, and has been at the core of the financial management of the business since 1992. When she gets home from Distag, Sheila has a busy time looking after the house, Joe, and their 3 children.
Introducing Bart Murphy, Bart is based at our office in Tullow and is responsible for Product Control, Development & Support. Bart joined us in July 2000, with years of experience in Purchasing, Stock Control, Technical drawing, Mechanical Engineering and Production roles. Bart is responsible for the supply and quality of the OEM and trailer parts range of Distag QCS products, in addition Bart also liaises with customers for the development and supply of new products. Bart is an avid Manchester United FC supporter and is Club Secretary of his local supporters club. He has recently taken up fitness and running and is cuurently in preparation for his first half marathon. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends and living life to the full!
Neil joined the Distag team in September 2015 as Purchasing Manager. His third level studies in Mechanical Engineering ensured that Neil has an in depth knowledge of our products. Since then, Neil has become the Operations Manager at Tullow and is responsible for the day to day running of the Tullow branch. Neil has a very cultured background, having spent many years residing in Australia, while also experiencing many of the worlds continents and countries of his travels. He is a member of Tullow Rugby Football Club and most Sundays he can be found in the Tullow Black Gates Complex or the opposition arena, playing for his club colours. He is also a follower of music with his attendance at the many concerts across Ireland and the world noteworthy.
Katrina originally joined the Distag team in June 1997 as an Internal Customer Services Assistant and she is one of our longest serving employees. Performing with excellence, the role of Customer Services, Katrina went on to further her responsibilities by taking on the role of Credit Controller. Katrina spent many years in Australia, working as a clerical officer for the department of planning and she has a third level education in secretarial and E.C.D.L. In her spare time, Katrina can be found on her local Kiltegan GAA field, supporting her children in their sporting careers. She also enjoys walking for exercise and reading.
Kathleen originally joined Distag in April 2002 as a Sales Representative and since this time she has continued to develop her role, taking on many of the duties within the office. Kathleen has been accredited from the City and Guilds Institute for Book Keeping & Accounting, while also aquiring a valuable ECDL programme credit. The majority of Kathleen's time outside of work, is taken up by her children, Siofra and Ben, supporting them with their education and the many different sports which they take part in! Kathleen also likes to keep fit by walking and attending piloxing classes.
Wayne joined Distag in June 2013 having completed his third level education in Agricultural Engineering with design and manufacturing. In line with his education and skill set, Wayne is the Trailer Parts Technician for the Distag QCS group, which is proving to be a vital and very successful role within the Company. As part of his role, Wayne supports the sales staff and customers with any technical queries that they may have. Wayne is 'Mr Sport' in the Tullow office, he completes a gym session every morning prior to starting work. He Playing as the goal keeping on the Gaa and Soccer front for this hometown of Stradbally in County Laois, Wayne has saved the day many a time, leading to much team success. Hailing from the era where everyone supported Manchester United, Wayne has followed suit!
Tomasz joined the Distag team in May 2005. Tomasz was initially employed as a storeman, but we have since utilised his skills as a quality welder, which has become a big part of his role. Outside of work, Tomasz loves to travel and has travelled all over Europe. Tomasz also enjoys fishing and cycling in his spare time.
Jim joined the Distag team in May 2014 as a storeman. He has since taken on further responsibilities, which include looking after the picking and packing of orders for the Flexequip & Flexepulse product offering. Jim has aquired the role of staff joker, and a conversation with Jim is always sure to lift the mood! In his spare time, Jim has a keen interest in rallying and he enjoys the occasional night out on the town!
