Since 1946, Sugiyama have successfully produced and marketed their chain across the developed world. Focussed on technical innovation, and advanced engineering techniques, they have built a reputation for world-class quality, and problem solving products.
In 1987, they were the first chain manufacturer to develop SBR (Solid Bush & Roller) chain - the bushes and rollers are cold-forged from steel rod.
The factory is based in Iruma City, Saitama, in Japan - approximately 50km north-west of Tokyo.
Sugiyama are proud of their reputation as producers of the 'Ultimate' roller chain, and they had a very noteworthy claim to fame. During the Chilean mining disaster in 2010, it was SY chain which drove the percussion drills, 700m underground. They created 6 inch diameter bore-holes to reach the 33 trapped miners.
